Three senior members of the Abu Dhabi Film Commission were made redundant last month as part of restructuring efforts. The team included film commissioner David Shepheard and deputy director Marcelle Aleid. Abu Dhabi Film Commission presently comes under twofour54, which has undertaken some restructuring in recent months to streamline its operations and better align its content generation activities under a single vision.
In a tweet to BroadcastPro Middle East, Noura Al Kaabi, CEO of twofour54 said Abu Dhabi Film Commission is still functioning and we appreciate the previous teams work.
Abu Dhabi Film Commission was well known for hosting the Circle Conference alongside the Abu Dhabi Film Festival annually. However, the conference was gradually phased out. The Film Commission has also proactively mentored several aspiring UAE filmmakers in all aspects of filmmaking chain from script writing and pre-production to distribution.
It is not known whether the Film Commissions role will be diminished or its operations will be jointly undertaken by twofour54 to ensure better use of the entitys human resources. BroadcastPro ME is awaiting further comment from twofour54.
